What are the opening hours?
The Colosseum opens daily at 08:30. Closing times vary seasonally, ranging from 16:30 in winter to 19:15 in summer. The last entry is one hour before closing.
How long does it take to visit?
Allocate 2 to 3 hours to visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill, as the single ticket covers all three sites and is valid for 24 hours.
What is the best time to visit?
The first entry slot (08:30) or late afternoon (after 16:00) offers the fewest crowds. Mid-morning and midday are the busiest times, especially with tour groups.
Are guided tours worth it?
Highly recommended. Guides provide access to restricted areas (like the Arena or Underground) and offer crucial historical context that signage alone cannot convey, enhancing the experience significantly.
