A "Museum Villa"
Cardinal Scipione Borghese commissioned this 17th-century "villa of delight" to display his art collection, including Bernini and Caravaggio. Uniquely designed as a public gallery, its symmetrical architecture was built to impress visitors.
The Borghese Crest
The Borghese crest, with its eagle and dragon, symbolizes the family’s power. You can spot these noble symbols carved into the villa’s facade, marking their enduring Roman legacy.
Villa Borghese Gardens
The art-filled gallery is surrounded by the vast Villa Borghese gardens, the third largest public park in Rome. It acts as a beautiful urban oasis, blending nature with the rich cultural history of the Borghese family.

Borghese Gallery & Gardens Small-Group Guided Tour
Miyuki
I had an incredible experience on the Borghese Museum guided tour. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and clearly passionate about every piece of art we encountered. Their engaging storytelling and insightful explanations brought the collection to life in such a memorable way. This visit was actually even better than my first time at the museum, entirely thanks to the guide’s enthusiasm and expertise. A truly delightful tour—highly recommended!
Rome: Borghese Gallery Guided Tour with Skip-the-Line Entry
Matthew
The guide makes the Galleria Borghese incredibly legible. With the guide, every sculpture and painting becomes clear—what it shows, why it matters, and the details you’d miss on your own. Bernini and Caravaggio shift from impressive objects to works you can actually understand. Without the tour, you walk past masterpieces without context; with it, the entire gallery finally makes sense. This is the only way to see it properly. If you plan on doing the gallery definitely do this tour

The Borghese Gallery was incredible. The sculptures and artwork are insanely beautiful, the whole collection is wow. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience even better. A must see
Have a question ? We are here to help.
Is it necessary to book in advance?
Yes, advance booking is mandatory as entry is limited to a set number of visitors per time slot. Furthermore, tickets sell out quick so it is highly recommended to book one month in advance or so. During peak season (May–September), it is safer to check two months out as the 360-person-per-slot limit fills up incredibly fast.
Do children have to pay for entrance?
Children under 18 receive free admission, though a small reservation fee still applies.
What are the opening hours?
The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and is closed on Mondays.
How long does it take to visit?
Each visit is strictly limited to a two-hour time slot, after which all visitors must exit.
What is the best time to visit?
The 9:00 AM slot is best for avoiding crowds, while the 5:00 PM slot often offers a quieter atmosphere and beautiful late-afternoon light.
