Is it necessary to book in advance ?
Entry to the main Basilica (only) is free and does not require a reservation. However, it is suggested to avoid the long queues (up to 90 minutes) and to access other areas.
Do children have to pay for entrance?
Entrance to the main Basilica (only) is free for everyone. For specific areas like the Dome climb, children under 7 are usually free, while those aged 7–17 often qualify for a reduced rate.
What are the opening hours?
April – September: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
October – March: 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM
How long does it take to visit?
A typical visit takes 1 to 2 hours. If you plan to climb the Dome or visit the Grottoes, allow for 2.5 to 3 hours.
What is the best time to visit?
Early morning (right at 7:00 AM) is best to avoid the longest lines. Alternatively, late afternoon (after 4:00 PM) usually sees the crowds thin out.
